Biography
Matt was born and raised in Charlevoix. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University. He retired from East Jordan Public Schools after a 30+ year career teaching middle school and coaching cross country and track. In retirement, he continues to work at Bergmann Marine, serves on the Charlevoix Public Schools school board, and is a volunteer coach with the cross country and track teams. He has two sons, Ben (24), and Sam (22). He and his wife, Karen, also attempt to manage two Golden Retrievers, Mo and Winnie.
